friends first, and then everything
sameer and kristina met at work in 2018 — sameer in recruitment, kristina in management. the first time either of them really remembers is a company summer party, sameer on the door welcoming everyone in. it took until early 2019, when their roles crossed and sameer was hiring for kristina's team, for the friendship to properly catch. what sealed it was Friends, the show, and the hours of easy talk that came with it. looking back, they both say the connection was there long before either of them was ready to admit it.
a proposal right before kick-off
sameer proposed at universal studios in orlando, on kristina's 30th. last day of the trip, by the canal that looks out over the big universal globe, right before they split up for an hour — him to catch a manchester united match, her to squeeze in a few more rides. down on one knee. and he did it in a homer simpson "sugar daddy" t-shirt, which now turns up in every engagement photo and has been officially promoted to family heirloom. why right before the football? "if united had lost, the mood would've been ruined. i couldn't take that chance."
a registry yes, a canal, a pint of guinness
july 13th, half past two. a registry office yes in dublin, and then the best part — out into the city on foot. a walk along the canal, a stop for a pint of guinness, and the evening carried on at the harcourt garden lounge. civil, close, walking distance, and exactly them.
