she was always leaving. he sold everything and followed her across the world.
she was always leaving
amanda and lucas met back in brazil, when amanda already had a ticket to ireland and no intention of falling for anyone. she fell anyway — but she kept it honest, telling lucas the whole time that she was going. this was her dream, and she wasn't about to hand him the weight of it.
he came anyway
as the date got closer, lucas asked the question she'd been dreading: how would it work for him to come too? she panicked. she didn't want him carrying the guilt, or the hard parts, of a life she'd chosen for herself. but lucas wasn't fazed — he sold what he could, saved what he needed, and within a few months had the whole thing organised. he followed her across the world.
the airport, and every yes after
ireland didn't make it easy — stretches apart while they sorted paperwork and documents and all the unglamorous parts. lucas couldn't take it. the next time he saw her, he proposed right there in the airport — and then a few more times, for good measure.
so a vow renewal at the avon in wicklow is really just these two doing what they've always done: saying yes again, on purpose, with the people they love close by and his mother right in the thick of it.
if you're plotting something of your own — a renewal or elopement in wicklow, or wherever the love is — this is exactly the kind of day i live to photograph.
